What we'd tell you
- In Oman, pair the coast with the mountains: Al Bustan Palace on the sea, then Anantara at about 2,000 metres, where it's markedly cooler.
- October to April is the window. June to August is severe heat.
- In Jordan, the Dead Sea is under an hour from Amman airport, so it works as a first or last night.
