What we'd tell you
- The herds are in the Mara from roughly July to October, and that is when every lodge is fullest. Book the safari first and fit the beach around it.
The one thing most people get wrong
Most people overpack. The small planes into the Mara allow a soft bag of about 15 kg, so pack for the bush and leave the rest at the coast.
