What we'd tell you
- Split the stay between the two cities. They're a little over an hour apart by road, and each deserves its own nights.
- The famous tasting-menu restaurants book out months ahead. We book tables at the same time as rooms.
- Pack for rain whatever the month. It's why the coast is this green.
The one thing most people get wrong
Most people book the famous tasting menus and skip the pintxo bars. The best night in San Sebastián is three or four Old Town bars, one or two pintxos at each, standing up.
